Patision Street was the only place for Athenians to stroll . This was because it was wide , compared to other Athenian streets, and at the same time it had no ups and downs.

An important public building came to give special prestige to the section of the street with the “scattered houses”. Eleni Tositsa purchased a plot of land on Patision Street in 1859, which she donated to the State with the aim of building the Polytechnic building there.

Near the Polytechnic, the foundation stone for the construction of the Archaeological Museum was laid in 1866.The building was finally completed in 1891 by Ernst Ziller. A few years later, the area around the Archaeological Museum was planted with trees.

1908 was the year that Patision was carved out, connecting Ano Patisia with Omonia , expanding the center of Athens and creating a multitude of new residential areas. It connects Omonoia Square with Pedion Aeros and reaches Kipseli area .

Well-known architects such as Nikoloudis and Metaxas created the new order of things through experimentation, starting an authentic Athenian style, mixing neoclassicism with elements from the architectural trends of the time such as art deco.

Regarding to our stoa research :

Patision 12 - 26

Stoa fexi is one of the most historic arcades on Patision with a large commercial traffic. It experienced great glory during the Minion era as it is located opposite to it. It is a T-shaped arcade that connects Patision, Gladstonos and Veranzerou streets. The stoa connects the staircases from the various buildings in the basement where it used to be an important typist and printing center. In its older form, the existing stoa is open-air on both the ground floor and the first floor, while later the new buildings were built in height and covered most of it. Today there are general trade and electronic appliance stores.
