On the occasion of the transfer of public services to the premises of PYRKAL, a survey was carried out in the public buildings of Athens that were released from them. We were interested in the new footprint of the state in the city centre and its transition to a new digital reality.
The aim of the project is to create a data and research centre, using 2 different approaches . In one case we followed a specific typology to design research and study spaces while in the other case we organized single spaces for different functions based on different typologies.
In the case of Dragatsaniou, the floor plan is organised more freely. As regards the atriums, the same logic is followed as for the server rooms. Unlike the previous case, the rest of the floor plan is divided into three main zones. The first zone is a temporary exhibition space, the second is a single study area that offers privacy to researchers through a system of curtains and screens, while the third zone consists of enclosed spaces separated by glazed windows. The last two floors of the building house residential apartments.
The ground floor of the building hosts specially designed spaces for the promotion of original objects and high-tech constructions.
