Modern Athens, following foreign models, has already started to welcome digital nomads, i.e. remote workers, including the self-employed, freelancers and employees. Young workers may travel domestically or abroad and the internet keeps them connected to their jobs, colleagues and clients. AHN combines the coworking space model with residential living, making it the ideal place for the modern worker, offering them a co-working space and an apartment. This strategy has the ultimate goal of making Athens a business destination in addition to a vacation destination.
A key gesture for the reuse of the building, which housed the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, was the creation of a single ramp that extends from the ground floor space and ends inside the panorama, on the uneven roof of the block. It was created by redistributing the 5800 sqm removed from the existing building at Acharnon 2 , while access to the elevated gallery is free to the residents of the block and the city at large.
